Vintage and Antique Quilts

The importance of keeping a quilt in good shape is to keep the investment of an heirloom for my family. Preserving each is not only important for the quilt but a responsibility of its owner. Here are some useful tips that will be beneficial in retaining the quilt’s beauty and the workmanship of the quilter for years to come:

Designing A Memory Quilt

There is beauty sewn into each patch of my newest memory quilt. This beauty comes from a woman’s life. Some called her mother, another wife, others shouted out for their grandmother, or sister.

Baby Quilts – Saluting all Veterans

Thank you to all those servicemen and women, veterans or active today and their families, for your dedication and service to our country. Read this blog, about one of your own young men and his family…

Jeans Quilts

Gained a few pounds? Your blue jeans don’t fit? Don’t worry I told my teaching staff. I have just the solution. Diet pills were not the answer, nor were any of those plans to lose weight by eating this food or that. Going to the gym and exercise are great but not on my list. I had a seat on my couch with my favorite sharp pair of sheers and all their old pair of jeans that no long fit. I was making a jeans quilt for a friend.

Starting a New Year of School

The start of a new school year is like the beginning steps to the designing of any of my baby quilts.
Today began my 39th year as an elementary classroom teacher. It was wonderful to watch the excitement of those young ladies and gentleman as they nervously entered my classroom this morning, and anxiously awaited what the school day bring and how the new school year would unfold.

T-Shirt Memory Quilt

Memories are not always tucked in between the pages of a book. Today they are pressed in between the 20 squares finished on the t-shirt quilt. I am designing a t-shirt quilt for my daughter for her high school graduation. Amazingly enough the thoughts and good memories that fit into each 16 x 16 inch blocks were the t-shirts worn by my daughter as she participated in soccer at age 6, played volleyball in middle school, played on the traveling teams for soccer or on her HS teams.
